"X-Force" Movie Stalled Thanks To "X-Men: Apocalypse"

In July of last year we learned that Fox had plans to make a X-Men film series spin off X-Force. Jeff Wadlow ("Kick-Ass 2") had signed on to write the screenplay and direct the picture.

The "X-Force" was created by Rob Liefeld in the early 1990s described as a more aggressive and darker mutant team. Various fan favorite characters moved in and out of the team including Wolverine, Deadpool, Cable, Psylocke, Cannonball, Domino, Warpath, Sunspot and Colossus.

Fine and dandy ...

...And then it was announced that "X-Men: Apocalypsewill hit theaters on May 27, 2016.

Now, Liefeld hinted on Twitter this week that the announcement of that third film starring the "X-Men: First Class" cast has effectively stalled development of the "X-Force" film.

"Everything changed when X-Men Apocalypse was announced" he said, when he was asked by a fan if there was any new information on the comic book movie. Asked if there will even be an "X-Force" movie he responded "Coin toss I'd wager".
.
Liefeld was asked if Cable is the team leader in his script, he said: "I have no idea if Cable will appear in future X-Men films. Hard to believe he won't appear in Apocalypse but I don't expect it."

Right now things seem dicey between Fox and Marvel and it could get real messy at some point....
