Helen Mirren is set to play gossip columnist Hedda Hopper. Peter Mackenzie will play the liberal attorney for the Hollywood 10. Roger Bart is playing Buddy Ross, a producer who works with Trumbo. Elle Fanning  is set to play Trumbo’s daughter while John Goodman will portray producer Frank King. Michael Stuhlbarg is set to play iconic Golden Age actor  , famous for his roles in Little Caesar and Key Largo.

John McNamara wrote the adapted script based on author Bruce Alexander Cook's 1977 book from which Jay Roach will direct.

Michael London, Janice Williams and McNamara will produce.
