Bots Battle The Dead

Platinum Dunes is planning a film adaptation of Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood's comic book title "Zombies Vs. Robots" says Deadline.

The story revolves around a young girl who is the last human left on Earth after a worldwide zombie outbreak. She is protected by a group of robots from the fierce zombies, who are more intelligent than zombies we've seen in the past.

The deal also includes J.T. Petty's "Inherit the Earth" spec script which used the comic as its basis.

Michael Bay Bradley Fuller, Andrew Form, David Alpert, and Rick Jacobs will produce the adaptation.

Guess Bay can't stay away from the Bots after all

Stop The Clock

Amanda Seyfried and John Cusack will star in the the thriller "The Bullet" reports Bleeding Cool.

The story follows a man only known as “The Clockmaker” who devises the ultimate plot of revenge against a seemingly random group of people by manipulating them to kill one another.

Shooting kicks off in Boston in April with Patrick Alessandrin (District 13: Ultimatum) calling action

No Mere Kid's Stuff

Hasbro  CEO Brian Goldner spoke with MTV News about the storyline for the as yet Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel

"Obviously, we know coming out of the first film that the president is an impostor. You might begin with the knowledge of having your president as an impostor. What would that mean? From that, you can tell a very big story without only having to rely on the chronology of the first film."

Meanwhile, Movieweb spoke with Jon Chu one of the potential frontrunner candidates to direct the upcoming sequel. (The other is F. Gary Gray Law Abiding Citizen)

"It is up to them right now. I have talked to them before. I am just sort of in it right now, waiting to see what happens" then adds that he has "a bunch of stuff written down. I have done a bunch of drawings and things".

If he does get the job, he also wants it to have a more adult tone
"It could be that way. But the one thing I felt was missing from the last Joe movie was the power of the punch. You want Joe to be tough. They are fun, but they are tough. I feel that you don't want to make Joe too kidsie. That is one of the issues they are having" says Chu

Personally I thought the tone of the last film was just fine and the sequel needn't be any more adult

The sequel was written Zombieland duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick

A Fan Of Ted

Giovanni Ribisi is attached to co-star in Seth MacFarlane's comedy "Ted" says Variety.

The film sees a grown man (Mark Wahlberg) dealing with his cherished teddy bear that came to life as the result of a childhood wish.

Ribisi will play Donny, a man obsessed with Ted (voiced by MacFarlane).

Mila Kunis is in final negotiations to co-star

MacFarlane directs, and co-wrote the film with his Family Guy staffers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.

MacFarlane, Scott Stuber and John Jacobs are to produce the pic

The Banksy Job

Street artist Banksy tells Metro that his request to turn up at Sunday's 83rd Academy Awards in disguise has been declined.

The British born Banksy, whose real identity remains unknown, is nominated for a best documentary award for his debut feature docu Exit Through The Gift Shop

Many are wondering if he or several people would turn up with his trademark monkey mask on.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences declined Banksy's request over fears such a move would invite copycat gatecrashers.

Executive director Bruce Davis: "The fun but disquieting scenario is that if the film wins and five guys in monkey masks come to the stage all saying, "I'm Banksy," who the hell do we give [ the award] to?"

But late Tuesday THR had this headline--Academy President on Banksy Crashing Oscars: 'I'm Not Gonna Stand Up to Stop Him'

Finally a reason to stay tuned in during the docu catagory...!

Bouncing Brawl

Vin Diesel's gonna put the nine years he spent as a bouncer to good use in an original web based film series called "The Ropes" reports Variety.

Eighteen seven-minute episodes, the first of which Diesel has already penned, will comprise the series. Unknown actors, as well as former bouncers, will also be cast for an authentic feel.

Diesel and Samantha Vincent will produce, though no start date or location has been determined.

In Bleakest Night

Horror helmer Rob Zombie told Empire that his upcoming film "The Lords of Salem" will be "the bleakest of all my films."

The story follows ancient witches who unleash havoc on modern day Salem.

Zombie explains: "There were twenty people that everyone knows about - obviously all innocent - executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem's descendants. That's when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong."

"Like a lot of my ideas, I had this one a long time ago, but it was never the right time to make it. Eventually it spun off into a song [on 2006's Educated Horses album] but there were still no plans to turn it into a movie until the Paranormal Activity guys approached me and wanted to do something. I didn't have any specific plans, but I mentioned Lords of Salem and they really latched onto it."

Shooting will kick off April 18th.

He also confirmed he's not gonna do the remake of "The Blob".

From Hunted To Hunter

A great casting notice!

Rutger Hauer will play Abraham Van Helsing in Dario Argento’s Dracula 3-D" reports Twitchfilm.

Hauer previously played Dracula in the DTV sequel “Dracula III: Legacy”, he also played the villan  'The Master' in 1992′s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie.

Things are moving fast on the project with Argento having to pull out of a recent convention in order to prep.

Shooting is scheduled to kick off in May for a release next year

How Many Fingers Am I Holding Up?

Gael García Bernal and Benicio del Toro will seemingly battle it out to to star in Arizona Dream director Emir Kusturica's "Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman with Six Fingers" reports Blic.

Johnny Depp  was going to play Pancho in the film which was supposed to start shooting this month.

Since then the pic, an adaptation of James Carlos Blake's historical novel  got delayed and Depp's busy career forced him to drop out.

Salma Hayek is still attached to co star.

Kusturica will meet the two actors in Cuba shortly and then make a decision after that.

Want More Bieber?

Paramount Pictures will release a "Director's Fan Cut" of "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" in theaters starting this Friday says The Hollywood Reporter.

Thirty minutes of footage from the original cut have been trimmed while forty minutes of new footage will be added which brings the new runtime to 115 minutes total. The new version will only play in 3D plexes in the U.S. and Canada due to the digital prints allowing for fast and cheap distribution of the new cut.

Doing the same with 35mm print was  unfeasible so the original cut will continue playing in regular theatres. That version has grossed $51.4 million in its first eleven days in release. The Director's Cut has been submitted to the Motion Picture Association of America

Director Jon Chu hit the social media websites to ask fans to see what they would like to see.

The new footage will include more of Justin 's friends and hometown life, as well as new songs and special footage shot of the film's premiere at theaters across the nation.

Bane Game

Actor Tom Hardy was a guest on comedian Alan Carr's Chatty Man talk show and was asked whether he would have to wear a gimp mask like Bane (Jeep Swenson) did in 1997's “Batman & Robin” for The Dark Knight Rises.

Only if I feel like it [laughs]... Christopher Nolan will revisit that territory entirely. I wouldn’t go by that [the Bane costume in “Batman & Robin”] at all” he says.

He also says that he has three months to put on around  22-27lbs for the pic.

Here's some of that interview

Pretty funny

Here's The Pitch

Troubled star Charlie Sheen really wants to reprise the role of Ricky 'Wild Thing" Vaughn says TMZ.

Seen as a sequel to the 1989 comedy and its follow-up he says he would do a new film if a script were green lit.

Sheen insists this would be "Major League 3", even though "Major League: Back to the Minors" is the third film in the series Sheen calls it "an abortion" and doesn't believe it should count

Sheen screened the original film during a baseball All-Star party at his house over the weekend and tells the site he's doing everything in his power to get a "Major League 3" movie on the big screen.

Costner Up & Away With Supes?

Oscar-winning actor-filmmaker Kevin Costner is being eyed for an unspecified role in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel says Deadline

It seems "there is heightened interest in Kevin Costner for a key role in the Superman reboot that is being directed by Zack Snyder...."

The site doesn't know which role Costner might be up for, therefore I would like to make a casting prediction and or suggestion should the story prove to be true--Jonathan Kent

Henry Cavill plays Supes

The new pic's screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Nolan and Deborah Snyder will produce the reboot

Production will start this summer with a December 2012 release date expected.

X-Pert Analysis

Actor Michael Fassbender chatted with Metro.US about his character's past as a younger version of Magneto in X-Men: First Class,- back story we won't see on screen

"...I thought what was interesting was what happened to him after the war – he gets that young gypsy girl out of the concentration camp that he falls in love with. They take off together and have a baby and the mob ends up going crazy and burning down the house and the child dies in the blaze. Magneto goes ape s**t and kills everybody. She’s freaked out and leaves him. So by the time we get to him in the movie, he’s a bit of a loner, really"

Meanwhile, following the strong debut of the teaser trailer for the hero prequel the studio is offering fans the chance to submit questions to one of 14 members of the cast and crew like director Matthew Vaughn, or producer Bryan Singer via social media websites

Fans can submit questions by either tweeting them to @xmenmovies or posting them on the wall of Facebook.com/XMenMovies starting on March 1st.

Each week from March 9th right through its June 3rd opening week, a member of the cast or crew will post answers to approximately ten fan questions to said official X-Men Movies Facebook page.

Rules Were Made To Be....

As a general rule TLR doesnot follow many industry folks on Twitter If they follow   I will follow them back But in this case--the edict of follow me first has gone out the window.

James Franco  has joined Facebook and Twitter says THR

With Franco co-hosting the 83rd Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway on Sunday I couldn't resist the possiblity of reading his tweets during the ceremony...

Twitter is one thing--Facebook however is an entirely different matter.....

Lohan Escapes?

Lindsay Lohan is seemingly in discussions to join the upcoming feature "Escaping the Game" reports Bitten and Bound.

Despite LiLo having a felony grand larceny charge to worry about producer Nathan Folks wants her involved in the film

The movie is about celebrities who can't handle the attention brought about by their fame and, as a result, flee to a remote island after faking their deaths or mysteriously disappearing.

The other issue of course is getting her insured - "We can get her insured if she is with someone who is keeping on eye on her 24/7. Lindsay and I have discussed it and she’s already agreed to the condition. She’s doing great and we’re going to prove to the world that she’s back

Good luck...

Chris Zylka ("Kaboom," "The Amazing Spider-Man") co-stars

The film will be shot in the U.S. and Spain.

I guess all my hopes of rumors of Lohan appearing as Lois Lane or Ursa in Superman: Man of Steel are now dashed

You know I'm kidding about that right?

"The Flag's Gone!"

The theatrical trailer for the "found footage" pic- a la Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project--Apollo 18 has landed...

History records that Apollo 18 was canceled..

Revealing a dark “secret” that NASA has kept hidden all these years, the film tells the story of the 18th manned Apollo mission to our moon and the danger encountered by the crew sent up there

The film is directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and is out on April 22

Will this film just be Ridley Scott’s original Alien set on the moon? Gosh I hope not...

Gatsby Goes Aussie

Helmer Baz Luhrmann’s 3D version of The Great Gatsby is going to be made in Sydney later this year reports MSN.
Pre production kicks off in March with a  planned 17 week film shoot starting in August, followed by 30 weeks of post-production work. The project is expected to result in $120 million in investment income to the state of New South Wales and generate at least 400 jobs during principal photography.

With more jobs generated in pre & post-production.

In a statement NSW Premier Kristina Keneally said "This comes at a good time for the film industry. Australia was thought to be losing international filmmaking due to the strong Aussie dollar - put simply, this is a big win. The Great Gatsby will be a boon for the NSW film industry, particularly given Baz Luhrmann's commitment to maximising use of local cast, crew and visual effects expertise."

Other parts of NSW will also be used during the filming and visual effects and post production work will also happen in the state.

Leo DiCaprio plays Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan is Daisy and Tobey Maguire co-stars as the narrator Nick Carraway will star in the country's first live action 3-D flick.

Unknown Qualities

In what seemed like a real nail biter at the cineplex on Friday veteran Liam Neeson shows young upstart Alex Pettyfer who's boss as Uknown bests  I Am Number Four as the top film in the US over President's Day weekend..Pettyfer gets another crack at number one though when he stars in the delayed romance thriller Beastly opening March 4.

Pamela McClintock of THR

In another win for Liam Neeson and his adult fans, Warner Bros. and Dark Castle's action-thriller Unknown scored a surprise victory in besting Alex Pettyfer teen sci-fi adventure I Am Number Four at the President's Day box office.

But overall, theater traffic was once again sluggish. Weekend was down as much as 30% from President's Day weekend a year ago.

Unknown grossed an estimated $21.8 million from 3,043 theaters through Sunday, and is on target to gross around $26 million for the four-day holiday weekend. A resounding 89% of the audience was over the age of 25 -- and 54% over the age of 50.

DreamWorks and Touchstone's Number Four grossed a softer-than-expected $19.5 million from 3,154 theaters through Sunday, putting it at No. 2 for the three days. But for the four-day weekend, it will likely come in No. 3, behind Unknownand holdover family toon Gnomeo & Juliet, also a Touchstone release.

Hollywood studios have been complaining for months about tracking, and President's Day weekend was no different. Going into the holiday, tracking services mistakenly showed Number Four in the lead.

Number Four is the first release from a reconstituted DreamWorks, and is the first to come out of the company's output and marketing deal with Disney. Movie played older than expected, with 54% of the audience was over the age of 25. Just as problematic was the fact that 57% of those buying tickets were males (Pettyfer was expected to draw more young females).

Gnomeo came in a pleasing No. 3 for the three-day weekend, grossing $19.4 million from 3,013 theaters for a cume of $50.4 million through Sunday, it's 10th day in release. It's projected to gross roughly $25.3 million for the four-day weekend, while Number Four is projected to gross around $22 million or $23 million.

Also holding well in its second weekend, Sony's Just Go With It grossed $18.2 million from 3,548 million for the three-day weekend to come in No. 4. It's possible Go With It could beat Number Four for the four days, but most give an edge to the latter.

New Regency and 20th Century Fox's franchise relaunch Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son came in No. 5, grossing an estimated $17 million through Sunday as it opened in 2,821 theaters. Total gross for the four-day weekend is projected at $20 million.

Unknown, Number Four and Big Mommas all received B+ CinemaScores.

Paramount's Justin Bieber: Never Say Never held better than expected in its second weekend, declining 54% for the three days to an estimated $13.6 million. The picture's cume through Sunday was $48.5 million. Never Say Never will easily jump the $50 million mark on Monday.

John Young of EW says not so fast Neeson Gnomeo & Juliet could challenge for first place....

Next Up: Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Christina Applegate get a Hall Pass from directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly; While Nicolas Cage learns to Drive Angry in 3-D no less...Ugh!!

Nerves Of Steel

Jeff Jensen of  EW talked with the new Man of Steel--Henry Cavill about landing the role and putting on the signature suit...

Cavill revealed that he had to put on Christopher Reeves‘ original threads for his audition:

All I could think was: Oh, God – they’re going to look at me and go, ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance’. The actor inside me was going: You’re not ready! You’re not ready!

Zack Snyder, director of the 2012 Superman reboot, says however: “He walked out, and no one laughed Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors. If you can put on that suit and pull it off, that's an awesome achievement. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow. Okay: This was Superman. "...

Cavill recalls a funny story of trying to call his girlfriend and his parents after hearing the news from that he got the part--some two weeks after his audition last October - but no one picked up.

"I was like, 'This is ridiculous! I've just been given the biggest job in history, and nobody's picking up their bloody phones.'"

Judging by this pic from Tarsem Singh's upcoming film Immortals-arriving in theaters November 11th, in 3-D Henry can get into shape.

Take 2

Liam Neeson's new thriller "Unknown" out next week shares a few similarities to  2008's "Taken" so the folks at MTV asked him about the status of  Taken 2

Neeson tells the site that he was as surprised as anyone by the success of the first film:

"I thought it was a good little B-movie when I first read it. I thought, 'This is cool, very simple, maybe straight to video, but it's a good little film, it's a chance to do all that physical stuff.' And then it just seemed to hit a pulse in people, it did very very well which I'm thrilled about and we're hoping to do another one next year sometime."

Then he was asked if he knew what the story entails and he said "Not really, no. [They're] working on a script."

Drac Track

A film currently called "Harker", what's described as a re-imagining of Bram Stoker's classic novel "Dracula" is in development reports Variety.

In Stoker's original novel, Harker is an estate agent dispatched to meet with Count Dracula in Transylvania, only to discover that he's been made a prisoner by his vampiric host.

In this version, Harker is a Scotland Yard detective on the trail of Dracula.

Jaume Collet-Serra ("House of Wax," next week's "Unknown") will direct from a script by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran will produce.

Since he's producing Might Leo play a lead when cameras roll?  Just a thought...

Famke Cast A Spell

The always fetching  Famke Janssen has joined the cast of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters says The Playlist

The story picks up on the fairy-tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch bounty hunters. Janssen will play the leader of the witches

Jeremy Renner will play Hansel, while Gemma Arterton beat out Noomi Rapace, Diane Kruger and Eva Green for the role of Gretel..

Tommy Wirkola ("Dead Snow") directs from a script he co-wrote with “All You Need Is Kill”'s D.W. Harper

Adam McKay and Will Ferrell will produce the pic

Shooting kicks off March 7th in Berlin.

Bond Gets A Partner

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer close to a deal with Sony Pictures to release Bond 23; after talks with Paramount Pictures reached an impasse says The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount did not want to go below an 8% fee to release the sequel and wasn't really sold on partnering with MGM on one of its summer films.

MGM hoped to convince Fox to renew its video deal for the franchise which expires later this year, but Fox won't be extending that agreement without the new Bond film.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007 and Dame Judi Dench is back as Bond Boss M  for helmer Sam Mendes The sequel boasts a screenplay by Peter Morgan

Filming is currently scheduled to kick off in the Fall for a release in November next year

So now it seems Sony has met MGM's terms, but it's unclear which of its upcoming films it will share with MGM---The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo perhaps?--Sony released the last two Bond films, 2006's  Casino Royale and 2008's Quantum Of Solace.

Anton Gets A Bit Odd

Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) will star in the film adaptation of Dean Koontz 2003 novel Odd Thomas.says Shock Till You Drop.

The story follows Odd Thomas, an optimistic twenty-year-old short-order cook who can see both dead people and the shadowy figures called 'bodachs' that appear around death and disaster. When bodachs seem to be swarming around a diner customer he nicknames 'Fungus Man', Odd is convinced the man is connected to a terrible catastrophe about to occur.

Stephen Sommers is directing from a script he adapted. Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi will produce here  No production start date is set.

Li Lo-is?

Just when you thought the casting of female role for Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel could not get any more difficult to figure out celeb site TMZ  reports that Lindsay Lohan's peeps "have had multiple conversations within the last few weeks with the people behind the new "Superman" reboot"

Their source adds "We're told Lindsay is up for a role in the flick -- and while it isn't Lois Lane, we hear it would be a 'major character'." Lindsay is supposed to meet personally with the "Superman" people soon.

Once I stopped laughing I looked at my calendar to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day...

And then I read this Headline--Lohan to Be Charged With Grand Theft Over Alleged Stolen Necklace and laughed some more

Come And Knock On My Door

Never one to get to comfy with his career actor James Franco has  plans for a new big screen incarnation of late '70s sitcom "Three's Company" says CNN.

No kidding...

The original series ran from 1977-1984, told to story of  three single roommates, one man (John Ritter) and two women, whose constant misunderstandings, social lives, and struggle to keep up with rent had viewers laughing as a top-rated show

Ritter, Joyce DeWitt and Suzanne Somers

At the Sundance Film Festival ast month, Franco unvieled an art installation entitled "Three's Company: A Drama," in which "the show's first three episodes were given a dramatic movie makeover and then screened in a re-creation of the characters' living room"

After that premiered, Franco was contacted by the estate which owns the sitcom's rights

Franco tells TV Guide: "When we were accepted to Sundance, we didn't have the series rights, but then the Three's Company estate contacted us. At first they were opposed to it, but then they saw what we did and loved it. So they are now talking to us about developing a Three's Company feature film and an off-Broadway play"

Franco admits that it will be several years before the stage show gets going, no word on the film production schedule....

If this works--expect to see a new trend turning sit-coms dramatic and on film

Freaky Chick

The lovely Camilla Belle is confirmed to star in the long-in-development adaptation of The Elmore Leonard's “ Freaky Deaky” reports The Playlist

Based on Leonard’s 1988 book the story involves a bomb-making ex-couple with radical politics who reunite for a job in Detroit worth millions. Meanwhile, a cop with bomb squad experience tries to take them down.

Charles Matthau was at one time attached to direct - no word if that's still the case. William H. Macy signed onto the pic last Fall, while Sam Rockwell and Hayden Christensen have been rumored, but reps for both say they aren't involved

Taking AD-Vice

The debut of a new ad for this Summer's Cowboys & Aliens boasting  more of the alien ships and a naked Olivia Wilde

EW spoke with director Jon Favreau about the ad.

"All the images we’re showing are from the beginning, up to the first half of the film. We’re not showing a lot of where it goes." like Native Americans being harvested by aliens in one scene:

Favreau responds "I don’t want to get into too much detail of what it is specifically, but it’s an aspect of showing the nightmarish quality of the film. There are heavy stakes and heavy stuff is going on there. [The story] allows the cowboys and Native Americans to come together, which would be impossible had there not been a greater common enemy."

Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell Noah Ringer and Harrison Ford star in the film slated to hit theaters on July 29th 2011.

Super Gr8

With the debut of a new commercial this weekend, J.J. Abrams is finally talking about about his highly secretive project Super 8 to The Los Angeles Times.

Abrams says he would rather keep quiet about it, but producer Steven Spielberg and the studio suits have asked him to talk about the pic  a bit more since it is facing some major competition this Summer.

We have such a challenge on this movie. Yes we’ve got Steven’s name on it and my name on it — for what that’s worth — but we’ve got no famous super-hero, we’ve got no pre-existing franchise or sequel, it’s not starring anyone you’ve heard of before. There’s no book, there’s no toy, there’s no comic book. There’s nothing. I don’t have anything; I don’t even have a board game, that’s how bad it is. But I think we have a very good movie

The film actually started out as two separate films - a small and non-fantastical coming-of-age tale of the kids shooting their home movie, an a high concept project about secret trains shipping things out of Area 51 in the 70's. The idea was ultimately fused into this project. The film is described as a throwback to 80's coming of age genre movies la- E.T..

The story is set in Ohio in 1979 where a group of six young friends are trying to make their own amateur zombie movie using an old Super 8 camera. During filming one night on a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks, a train carrying cargo from Area 51 collides with a truck and derails. A xenomorph escapes from the wreckage.

"Super 8" will also explore the issue of loss as it starts with a small-town factory death and its impact on the victim's family - “This is a movie about overcoming loss and finding your way again and finding your own voice. A boy whose lost his mother and the man whose lost his wife. There’s this father who, because of the era, never really had to be the parent. He’s a good man, he works hard, he’s a deputy in the town, but he’s never stepped up as father” says Abrams.

The film stars Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, and Kyle Chandler, and is due for release June 10.

The ad helps sell the throwback notion and is very evocative of the Spielberg films of the past--thanks in large part to the very John Williams-esque music used by composer
Michael Giacchino

Labor Of Laughs

Summit Entertainment wants to make the body-swapping comedy "Unexpected" reports Variety.

The story centers on a married couple who learns that they are expecting another child. After an experience with an ancient fertility totem, the couple ends up switching bodies for the entire term of the pregnancy.

Ugh!

Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk Robinson (Life As We Know It) are writing the script from a premise by Jennifer Eatz. Todd Garner will produce the pic with Eatz

The Switchero genre is making a comeback folks--The Change-Up, which stars Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds as two longtime friends who end up switching bodies. The Change-Up is slated for release on August 5.

Sharp Pens

127 Hours writer  Simon Beaufoy tells InContention that he's working on a film adaptation of Toby Barlow's werewolf-themed poem Sharp Teeth.

The story follows a trio of werewolves in East Los Angeles. Characters include a lawyer with ambitious plans to takeover the city, a dogcatcher and loner who falls for a beautiful and mysterious woman, and a detective investigating dog-related murders.

Danny Boyle may direct the film version of “Sharp Teeth" but is not on board yet

Beaufoy has been taking ride alongs with LAPD officers in Compton and Watts for research.

Boyle is busy currently working on a soon to premiere stage adaptation of Frankenstein in the UK starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

Big Movie Ads

As a game, Super Bowl XLV didn't hold much interest for me as far as a team to root for...since the Green Bay Packers knocked my team-the Chicago Bears out of contention-But since it may be the last football game for awhile it was still a must watch....

Another reason to tune in for me of course were all those move ads....

How I Met Your Superhero

How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders is the front runner for the role of S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Maria Hill in Joss Whedon's The Avengers reports Deadline.

The role is the female sidekick of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) which Jackson mentioned in a recent interview on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

A deal seems likely and would include options for appearances in future superhero films She beat out Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Whedon first took note of Smulders when he was trying to cast that aborted Wonder Woman film of his.

In the comics, Hill was the ruthless interim executive director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and was not above blackmailing and bullying superheros to get her way. She was eventually replaced by Robert Downey Jr,'s Tony Stark.

Jeremy Renner,Chris Evans Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson also star in the May 4, 2012 release

Situation Report

A Sign Of The Apocalypse?

Jersey Shore. star Miike "The Situation" Sorrentino says he will eventually leave the comfort of his reality TV gig and make an attempt as an actor in films.

He tells E! Online."Maybe in a year or so of reality, and then I'm going to graduate to movies. There's only so long you can rule the reality world"

Sorrentino was a personal trainer on Staten Island prior to joining 'Shore'. He made an estimated $5 million last year thanks to combined endorsements, merchandising and his 'Shore' salary.

Sorrentino will be heading off to Italy soon to shoot Shore's fourth season, he'll then decide after that what next for him....

You Gotta Be Freakin' Kidding Me! First Shore is anything but Real--Second Playing yourself is one thing A movie is another matter entirely....Sheesh!  The sad part is that he'll probably get a film just the same anyway.

Kruger Query

First it was a question of character in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel,
Lois Lane or Ursa with 3 names circling the unspecified role--Alice EveDiane Kruger and Rosamund Pike

Kruger

Now things get even more muddled as Kruger, was asked about the report while doing the junket for Unknown out February 18th.

Her reply?

"No, it's not true" the actress told Coming Soon.

The casting of Henry Cavill as Superman happened last Sunday Every report about casting since then seems rooted in puffs of smoke from Perry White's cigar...Waiting for official word..

The new pic's screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Nolan and Deborah Snyder will produce the reboot

A December 2012 release is planned....
