**LionsGate is developing a new Dirty Dancing says Production Weekly.
Julia Dahl has been hired to write a script that would re imagine the 1987 mega hit starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey--which was made for just $6 million but went on to earn a whopping $213.95 million worldwide.
The studio suits tried this once before and released a pseudo-sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights in 2004 which was a financial disaster for the studio....

Peter Hyams directed the original and underrated pic that's referred to as High Noon in space is about a police marshal stationed at a remote mining colony on Jupiter's moon Io and must investigate several mysterious deaths. He soon must take on the colony's corrupt corporate administrators alone.
The new version will put the action in an orbiting city where a cop uncovers a murderous conspiracy endangering the entire city. With a week before his retirement back to Earth, our hero has to choose between walking away with his wife, or taking on a private army with his overachieving ex-partner and wife's former boyfriend.
