The book is (what else) a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves "Souls."
One such soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.
"The Truman Show" writer Andrew Niccol will adapt the script and direct.
Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz are going to produce the pic.
They are also responsible for upcoming film adaptations of John Hillcoat's upcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy novel "The Road.".
The film version will no doubt do well if done right...As for me I say "ho-hum"
