Arnold Schwarzenegger Goes Back to Action Roots

Most of the news you’ve been hearing about Arnold Schwarzenegger lately has concerned his stint as the Governor of California. Things are about to change.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog reports that Arnie has long been negotiating with Lionsgate Jee-Woon Kim’s upcoming crime thriller The Last Stand. The film “is set in motion when a cartel leader breaks out of a courthouse and speeds to the Mexican border.  The only thing standing in his way is a bordertown sheriff and his inexperienced staff.” Production might begin as early as August.

Schwarzenegger’s a staple of action films, so it completely makes sense that he’d be doing a film with this kind of plot. Though these films aren’t exactly the cream of the crop with the critics – not that they deserve to be – they can be quite entertaining for what they are. I’m easily more excited about this than The Governator; welcome back, Arnie!

How do you feel about this comeback role?
