After weeks of rumors Michael Shannon has indeed landed the role of General Zod in Zack Snyder’s big budget reboot "Superman: Man of Steel," according to a Press Release via The Wrap
Edgar Ramirez and Viggo Mortensen had been mentioned previously as well
Snyder had this to say about casting Shannon:
"Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."
Shannon is great in the cable series Boardwalk Empire and the film Revolutionary Road But lets face it he's gonna have big black boots to fill following in the footsteps of the one and only Terence Stamp--as would anyone else... As for Snyder denying that Zod was even gonna show up? I chalk that up to a director waiting until the right time to make it official
Henry Cavill Amy Adams Kevin Costner and Diane Lane also star
David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay based on a story he concocted with Christopher Nolan
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas Deborah Snyder, and Nolan will be producers on the film
Production will start in Vancouver in May for release next year
