Verisimilitude?

Let's talk Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel Antagonists & Realism:

Yesterday Latino Review broke the news that Edgar Ramirez is "supposedly being eyed" for the villain role, though the indentity of the baddie is not yet known

Ramirez recently won acclaim for his portrayal of Carlos the Jackal in the mini-series Carlos about the assassin-- he'll also play Ares in 2012's  Wrath of the Titans.

Meantime, Deadline says Michael Shannon (Vanilla Sky, Revolutionary Road) is a contender for the role, and like the previous report doesn't go into specifics about which heavy he's up for.

Viggo Mortensen was rumored to play General Zod at one point

Snyder also talked MOS to THR at the premiere of Sucker Punch

"I've stretched this world of abstract reality so far that the awesome thing about Superman is that Superman lives in the real world," he says. "And it probably will be the most 'real' movie I've made. It will more real than even Dawn of the Dead."

Producer Deborah Snyder explains how the term "real" is being applied in the context of Superman, but

"It's weird that it's Superman, a guy from outer space, that's flying," she tells us. "But I think it's going to be a definite departure from the things he's done because the idea is to make him relevant in our world today. So the way you do that is you put him in our world exactly how it is and not in a stylized world."

Don't expect to get any visual clues for MOS  while you watch Sucker Punch either

"Superman will be a documentary compared to this," said Snyder.

Henry Cavill Kevin Costner and Diane Lane star

David S. Goyer is writing the screenplay based on a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Nolan  are also producers on the film

Production will start in Vancouver in May
