THR reports that former Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie has joined the comedy sequel Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
Deadline reports that Molly Shannon, Nicholas Turturro and Gary Valentine are all in talks to co-star. Raini Rodriguez is also in negotiations to reprise her role as Maya, Blart's daughter.
Kevin James is set to return as the security guard at a New Jersey mall.
The story shifts to Las Vegas, where Paul and Maya attend a security guard convention. After being constantly mocked by casino security, he helps them bring down a dangerous group of art thieves.
No details were given for Shannon's character, but Henrie is playing a Vegas valet attendant who Maya has a crush on. Turturro will play one of Blart's security guard adversaries, while Valentine is playing a colleague who is sympathetic to Blart's plight.
James and Henrie worked on another comedy sequel Grown Ups 2
James and Nick Bakay, who co-wrote the original, are back to work in the script.
Andy Fickman ("Escape to Witch Mountain," "Parental Guidance") replaces Steve Carr who helmed the original 2009 comedy which became a surprise major hit with a $146 million domestic gross.
James, Todd Garner and Adam Sandler are returning as producers.
Production hopes to begin in April.
