Now comes word via Variety that she will replace Toni Collette in Sam Mendes next film called Farlanders

Gyllenhaal will play a bohemian college professor who is an old friend of John Krasinski's character.

Delays on the Connecticut shoot forced Collette's exit. Gyllenhaal begins filming her role this week.

I'm a fan of both actresses. In my opinion--Mendes will not miss a beat with the casting switch.
