Island Adventure

New Line Cinema has a sequel to last year's family adventure "Journey to the Center of the Earth " in the works says The Hollywood Reporter.

Made for $60 million--doing four times that internationally last year, many wondered if the jump to 2D video would dampen DVD sales numbers-It didn't.

The sequel's story line comes from Richard Outten.'s "Mysterious Travels" spec script which has the classic adventure stories of "Jules Verne's "Mysterious Island", Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island'" and Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels taking place on on the same island.

That script is now being retooled to fit Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson’s characters from the first film who are expected to return.

Eric Brevig is confirmed as sitting in the big chair again.
