For Tamara

Stephen Frears is set to direct a live-action adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel "Tamara Drewe" reports Variety.

The book created by Posy Simmonds, is a modern reimagining of Thomas Hardy's classic novel "Far from the Madding Crowd."-which itself became a 1967 film

Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) is Drewe, a sexy flirt who returns to her small country village and stirs up dark passions among the locals.

Arterton appears in Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia next year, as well as a new version of Wuthering Heights seems like a good fit here as well.

Luke Evans, Public Enemies' Bill Camp and TV comedienne Tamsin Greig also star.

Moira Buffini adapated the screenplay.

Shooting kicks off September 21st at the famed Pinewood Studios in the UK.
