The Rainbow Connection

Lionsgate and Tyler Perry are teaming up once again--This time on a film adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1975 award-winning play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf" says THR

The play was a series of twenty poems performed through a cast of nameless women, each known only by a color in the rainbow. The poems deal with love, abandonment, rape, domestic violence and abortion. The feature film version will likely be a female ensemble drama using a multiple storyline narrative based on poems..

Perry will write, direct and produce the film which will be the first project for Perry's new production company--34th Street Films. Paul Hall co-produces.

This marks the tenth pic that Lionsgate and Perry have worked on together. The latest--completed flick I Can Do Bad All By Myself opens next Friday.

Shooting on Enuf will begin in November for release sometime next year.
