Brian Cox is set to reunite with director Rupert Wyatt – his collaborator on the prison escape flick The Escapist – for the upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Apes. reports The Wrap. The story focuses on a scientist (James Franco) working on an Alzheimer's cure being tested on apes. The test subject named Caesar evolves rapidly, forcing the scientist to take him home and live with him to protect him from cruel doctors.
Cox would play the brutal and villainous owner of a primate sanctuary who runs the facility with no compassion for its animal inhabitants.
John Lithgow and Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis will also star.
Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa wrote the screenplay and are producing the June 24th 2011 with Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark. .
Shooting kicks off this Summer in British Columbia.
