Cruise "Born" To Be A "Star"?

Tom Cruise is being eyed to lead Clint Eastwood's musical remake of A Star is Born reports Variety.

Should a deal be made, Cruise would play an over-the-hill musician who falls for a young singer (Beyoncé) whom he is trying to help turn into a star.

Eastwood’s first choice, Leo DiCaprio, passed. Will Smith Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale have been mentioned as potential lead canddidates.

Jon Peters, Basil Iwanyk and Bill Gerber are producing the latest version of the tale with Clint...told on screen in 1937, 1954--with Judy Garland and 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Like the '76 pic this version will be set in the music industry rather than movies like the first two films..

Will Fetters wrote the most recent screenplay. The team of Stephen J. Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson--Reggie Rock Bythewood wrote previous drafts..

Cruise begins work on Joseph Kosinski's sci-fi epic "Oblivion" or whatever it's called now next week  before jumping into  "All You Need Is Kill"
