Doug Liman Coaching "Victory" Remake

"Edge Of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman is in talks to chart a remake of the 1981 World War II Soccer film Victory says THR.

The original film directed by John Huston starred Max Von Sydow, Sylvester Stallone, Sir Michael Caine, sports icon Pelé, Ossie Ardiles and Russell Osman. The story centers on allied prisoners of war interned in a German Pow camp who are forced to play a soccer match against a professional German team, all the while plotting their post-match escape.

Gavin O'Connor ("Warrior") is writing the adapted script for Warner Bros.

Bernie Goldmann and Gianni Nunnari are producing the film. Jon Berg and Racheline Benveniste are overseeing the film for the studio

Liman is also due to call action on the film adaptation of Ubisoft's video game "Splinter Cell" with Tom Hardy in line to star.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Goes To SDCC 2014!

Actor Mark Ruffalo has confirmed to Collider that the cast of Joss Whedon's superhero team up sequel "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be making an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con next month:

"Yeah, we're gonna go out there. We're all flying, we're flying from London. We're working. We're shooting. We're gonna stop and get on a plane and go to Comic Con together. It's gonna be amazing."

He was also asked if attendees will get to see some footage at the popular event:

"There might be some cool new Hulk, Hulk-o, Hulk-o-phobia, Hulk-o-phernalia. Hulk-a-phernalia!"

The sequel DOES NOT follow the Age of Ultron comics storyline--in which the big bad Ultron was created by Hank Pym who becomes Ant-Man. James Spader will both voice Ultron, and he'll have to do some kind of motion-capture as well--This news puts to rest the most popular theory suggesting that Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr,) robot butler J.A.R.V.I.S. (voiced by Paul Bettany) operating system from the Iron Man Films would turn into the villain.

Marvel vets RDJ, Chris Evans Chris Hemsworth Scarlett Johansson Samuel L. Jackson Jeremy Renner Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders are all expected back Two time Iron Man co-star Don Cheadle is involved this time out according to USA Today. Bettany will appear on screen as The Vision an android created by Ultron as a weapon to be used against the Avengers. Vision can fire beams of radiation and turn invisible--the character ultimately turned the tables on Ultron and became an Avengers member himself.

TV's Hulk Lou Ferrigno has confirmed that he'll return to do the voice of the big guy in the sequel. Ferrigno has said four words as the character so far - "Hulk Smash" in 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" and "Puny God" in "The Avengers".

Thomas Kretschmann has landed the role of 2nd bad guy Baron von Strucker. In the comics, the seemingly immortal Strucker is one of the leaders of Hydra, and an enemy of both S.H.I.E.L.D and The Avengers He seemingly beat out rumored candidates Marton Csokas and Dougray Scott who were being considered for the BvS role. The character will have Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and her twin brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) apparently working for him in the sequel (American Horror Story favorite Evan Peters plays a different incarnation of the speedy superhero in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past"--in a very cool sequence in the film). Korean actress  will play a bad gal role.

Radar Online has an unidentified source that claims that RDJ is campaigning to get his pals Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster a role in the movie.

Some non principal filming took place in South Africa Production on the 'Avengers' sequel continues to meet a release date of May 1, 2015.

Bob Orci Talks "Star Trek 3"

Now that it's been confirmed that Roberto Orci is going to direct Star Trek 3 he has started talking a bit about his plans for the next film.

Orci co-wrote and produced J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" '09 and "Star Trek Into Darkness" with longtime partner Alex Kurtzman. Abrams commitments to the Star Wars: Episode VII kept him from coming back. Names like "Attack the Block" filmmaker Joe Cornish, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director Rupert Wyatt and G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon M. Chu were in the mix to call action.

Kurtzman meanwhile is turning his attention towards the Spider-Man film series at Sony Pictures.

"Thor" and "X-Men: First Class" writers and "Fringe" producers Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz were eyed to script the sequel but opted not to do it.

Now J.D. Payne, Patrick McKay and Orci are co-writing the next film.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho are all expected to return to the Final Frontier in their respective roles as Kirk Spock Uhura Dr. McCoy Scotty Chekov and Sulu.

Abrams Bryan Burke and David Ellison will produce the film

Skydance was reportedly behind Orci's hiring to helm the film, but they had to convince Paramount.

The sequel is going to move forward quickly to make a 2016 bow coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the "Star Trek" franchise.

During a recent edition of the podcast Humans From Earth with Geoff Boucher, Orci promises the next film will be more like the original series than the previous two movies with the crew now out exploring space on their five-year mission:

"In [Into Darkness] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films - especially the 2009 [reset] - was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren't the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie. So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space... they are in deep space now, so lets see what's out there."

Orci also promised less secrecy this time out (yay!):

"I think it is going to be more of a mix. On the one hand you want the story to have surprises. Otherwise why even go to the movie?. On the other hand you want to share enough of it to let people know what they are going to get and what they can expect and what the experience is going to feel like. In terms of behind the scenes, audiences are now so savvy, I think it is kind of fun to be more transparent. And let people into the process of how you are doing things and let them watch you do the movie. You can see behind the scenes without knowing what the context of the scene is or what the story is."

Box Office Preview: One For The Ages?

This weekend Michael Bay's sequel Transformers: Age Of Extinction (reviews) arrives...that means you can expect high contrast, saturation, explosions, good looking females running, an epic scale and some really cool visual effects shots.

The Earth has been left scarred after the events of the first three movies, with humanity picking up the pieces after the Transformers disappeared. The new film follows a high school student, and daughter (Nicola Peltz) of Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager--an inventor who discovers a buried Transformer, which sets the stage for their return. Jack Reynor plays her race car driver boyfriend.

The post-apocalyptic thriller "SnowPiercer" (reviews) begins its limited run. The film is an adaptation of a French comic "Le Transperceneige and is set in a future when an Ice Age has killed off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution bubbles up.

Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton Jamie Bell Kenny Doughty Oscar winner Octavia Spencer Ewen Bremner and Kang Ho star for "The Host" director Joon-ho Bong.

Pamela McClintock of THR:

Paramount's Transformers: Age of Extinction is hoping to set off early fireworks and become the first movie of 2014 to cross the $100 million mark in its North American debut this weekend, as well as reboot director Michael Bay's action franchise with a new leading man, Mark Wahlberg.

Pre-release tracking services show the movie opening in the $100 million range, although Paramount is trying to temper expectations by noting its been three years since the last film in the series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, played in theaters, taking in $97.9 million on its first weekend in 2011. Also, Age of Extinction has a new look and feel sans Shia LaBeouf, previous star of the Paramount and Hasbro toy-to-film series.

Studio insiders say anything on par with the debut of Dark of the Moon would be a major victory for Age of Extinction, which cost north of $200 million to make.

The first three Transformers movies took in a combined $2.7 billion at the worldwide box office, and all opened over Fourth of July week, instead of a week before, as Age of Extinction is doing (Dark of the Moon is the highest grossing, with $1.12 billion in ticket sales).

Age of Extinction should do massive business overseas, where it is rolling out this weekend in Russia, Australia and most of Asia, including China (it opens later in Japan). Normally, it would have debuted day-and-date around the globe, but Paramount is waiting in many markets because of the World Cup (Russia's team has already been eliminated from the soccer championships).

Domestically, the 3D tentpole is widely expected to score the best opening of the year to date, besting the $95 million debut of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April.

Young stars Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor also make their first appearance in the franchise. Age of Extinction takes place four years after a devastating face-off between the Autobots and the Decepticons in Chicago, and introduces the Dinobots (i.e., dinosaurs) for the first time.

During production of Dark of the Moon, both Bay and LaBeouf confirmed it would be their final Transformers film. A number of other directors were considered, but Bay ultimately decided to return and make the movie for Paramount and Hasbro.

No other movie dared go up against Age of Extinction and open nationwide this weekend, although a slew of specialty films begin their limited runs -- including three from The Weinstein Co., John Carney's Begin Again, starring Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld, Korean film Snowpiercer (a Radius-TWC release) and French biopic Yves Saint Laurent.

Steve Pink Charts "Overnight" Stay

THR says that Hot Tub Time Machine 2 helmer Steve Pink will call action on the family comedy Overnight.

Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) was in talks to direct, but a deal was never reached.

The story follows a father and son winning the chance to spend the night inside a new FAO Schwarz style store. Their sleepover is interrupted when thieves break in.

Will Ferrell is being eyed to play the dad.

Oren Uziel penned the screenplay.

Sony Pictures put the project in turnaround where Disney picked it up last year. Pink is also set to direct “Vacation Friends”, starring real life duo Anna Faris and Chris Pratt.

Frank Darabont Tipped For "Snow White And The Huntsman 2"

The Wrap reports that Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption") has been offered the job of directing Snow White and the Huntsman 2.

Darabont beat out Andy Muschietti ("Mama") and  Gavin O'Connor ("Warrior"). While  the decision has been made, he has reportedly not yet been presented with an offer yet.

Back in August 2012--it was revealed that Universal Pictures originally planned to continue the franchise by featuring two more films with Kristen Stewart as Snow White, then a spin-off with Chris Hemsworth alone. Due to Stewart's troubles for cheating on Robert Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, the studio was scrapping the current draft for the sequel, and “exploring options to continue the franchise” –with or without Stewart, And at that time said that"no decision has been made."

The reason Darabont was selected was that he seemingly pitched a new spin on the sequel that indeed puts the focus on the Huntsman character. As a result, Stewart may not even need to return as Snow White, if she does, it'll be in a significantly reduced capacity. It also means a title change.

Production could happen soon though, Hemsworth's schedule is clear once he wraps "Avengers: Age of Ultron »

Universal reportedly wants the sequel ready in time for a 2016 release.

Batman v Superman-DOJ: Scoot McNairy Gets Unknown Role

Scoot McNairy ("Argo," "The Rover") has seemingly joined Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman/Batman team-up film called "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" according to Deadline. Nobody at the studio will confirm the news or reveal what the role is.

DOJ will see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck will play Bruce Wayne/Batman amid lots of fallout--while Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are set to reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Perry White and Martha Kent. "Fast Five" star Gal Gadot's playing Wonder Woman.

How big Gadot's role as WW is, is unknown at this point. Godot beat out Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung for the role. Thor: The Dark World" actress is Jaimie Alexander was also linked.

Some time ago there was noise that the production was seeking is a love interest for the Dark Knight in the film. The Type? A woman in their late 20s of any ethnicity.  Adding that she be tall and "possess physicality".

The notice DID NOT give a name for the character, which led to speculation that it was anyone from Vicki Vale to Wonder Woman. A leaked casting call had fanboys thinking that the Amazon warrior was in the pic.

A love interest for Bats suggests that he will have a larger part in the film than expected.

Rumors started that reportedly confirmed that Jason Momoa has been cast as Aquaman for both DOJ and "Justice League".  In response Momoa posted a new photo via Instagram that seemed like a response to the chatter that could go either way (though most likely it's a denial) - The pic sees him  holding a pitchfork like a trident, but he's also holding up his middle finger.

Momoa has been linked to Warner Bros' upcoming DC Entertainment plans for a long time but he's been suggested for numerous other roles like Doomsday or Metallo alien hero Martian Manhunter who also happens to like Oreo Cookies. The imposing actor has been asked about the talk several times but has always denied that he's up for a role.

Ray Fisher is playing the role of Cyborg in the film. Jeremy Irons has been cast as Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth. Jesse Eisenberg is playing Lex Luthor

There were reports that suggested that the chatter about former "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston was playing Lex in the upcoming movie were true were denied by the actor. In fact he and fellow early frontrunner Mark Strong were never offered the role. Tom Hanks was internally discussed but an offer was never made.

Instead, they stuck with a next generation' mandate. We were told that Joaquin Phoenix came up as a contender for Lex. The trade says that he passed.

Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto ("The Wolverine") have joined the cast. Specifics about their new characters are being kept under wraps. Australian actor Mulvey ("Zero Dark Thirty) has  been rumored for the role of an (unnamed) villain in the film for quite some time now....

Spanish site El Multicine which claims that "Looper"and "Edge Of Tomorrow" actress Emily Blunt is close to inking a deal for an unspecified role.

Batman on Film also suggests that the character of Commissioner Jim Gordon is in the film, however there's no word on potential casting or confirmation at this time. The character is front and center in Fox Broadcasting's fantastic looking new Fall TV Series prequel Gotham starring  , , and

More rumors ran recently that Girls co-star Adam Driver was the frontrunner to play the character of Dick Grayson, the post-Robin Nightwing incarnation in the film. The original story mentioned that two other actors are in the mix for the role. Less than 24 hours later "Gossip Girl" and "Easy A" star Penn Badgley and "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" and "We Need To Talk About Kevin" star Ezra Miller were said to be in mix for the part. Driver denied any such talk...With good reason since he was really up for Lex. He turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. Denzel Washington was also among a list potentials for Lex generated by Thinkmcflythink as were Idris Elba and.

Speculation is that Jason Momoa is up for the bad guy--say perhaps Doomsday or Metallo. Or another notion is that he might play alien hero Martian Manhunter who also happens to like Oreo Cookies. The imposing actor denies that he's up for a role

Singer Justin Bieber uploaded a photo on his Instagram account showing him holding up what appeared to be a personalized script for the film with the hashtag "#Robin" but it turned out to be a prop for a Funny or Die skit.

The speedster The Flash is said to be in the script.

Meantime: The star of The CW's popular Arrow TV series Stephen Amell posted a "Justice League" comic image on his official Facebook page.  We already know that Flash (Grant Gustin) showed up there for a few eps before getting his own show this Fall (Watch an extended trailer). Could more of DC Entertainment's "Justice League" be coming to "Arrow"? For now the DC Cinematic Universe will NOT co-exist with the TV heroics...There are rumors about where the films might go as well as the  TV side of things...

"Man Of Steel" writer David S. Goyer was back on the keyboard but now--THR reports that  Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar for writing Affleck's “Argo,” has been hired to write the latest draft of the MOS 2 script.

Goyer is in the midst of developing several projects including an adaptation of author Neil Gaiman's  popular comic book series Sandman, which he’ll produce with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven return to executive produce the multi-hero film.

Sources say the new movie is going for the tone of the relationship and fight seen in Frank Miller’s 1980s ground-breaking mini-series The Dark Knight Returns.

The release has been delayed a full 10 months for a number of reasons. As a result, the original release date of July 17th 2015 is no longer doable. Now, the studio is targeting a May 6th 2016 release. They quickly inserted the fantasy Pan into that original slot. MOS 2 will go head to head with "Captain America 3"--or not...

Production is officially underway on the film.

Once DOJ is completed  Snyder will helm the long planned Justice League movie.
