Oscar winner Forest Whitaker will direct and star in a biopic about music great Louis Armstrong called "What a Wonderful World" according to Variety.

This is the first film to be authorized by the Armstrong estate, and will chronicleduring the musician's impoverished early years in New Orleans and primarily chronicle his career as a trumpet virtuoso and improvisational singer.

Ronald Bass will write and executive produce the project alongside Oscar Cohen who was Armstrong's road manager in the late '40s.

Wow! What a perfect fit for Whitaker...

Shooting begins next summer in Louisiana.
