Jeffrey Dean Morgan is negotiating to join the cast of the remake of the 1984 John Milius action classic Red Dawn. according to Coming Soon.
The story follows a group of teenagers who band together to fight back when their home town is invaded by an joint force of Chinese and Russian soldiers.
Morgan will play the leader of the U.S. Special Forces team who discovers the teens' stronghold while behind enemy lines. Morgan fills the role played by Powers Boothe in the original pic.
Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Brett Cullen, Connor Cruise, Edwin Hodge, Alyssa Diaz and Julian Alcaraz star in the remake with Dan Bradley calling action.
Morgan can do the role in his sleep...
Filming will begin shortly in Detroit for release next September.
Also Morgan says he's campaigning hard to land the role of the alien bounty hunter in Guy Ritchie's Lobo film adaptation.
Morgan's turn in Watchmen and in the upcoming The Losers gives him enough comic book cred to do Lobo justice on screen--I support that campaign
