Book To Film Bats

Long before e Christopher Nolan gave us Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, filmmaker Darren Aronofsky pitched an R-rated, very gritty take on Batman to the studio suits.

His version would have seen Batman as "a real guy running around fighting crime. No super-powers, no villains, just corruption."

Of course the studio decided to another way...

Yet now that Nolan's about to begin work on the final chapter of his trilogy--The Dark Knight Rises, many have begun to wonder whether Aronofsky might get his chance at Bats- especially since he's now doing the comic book pic The Wolverine

Whether his Bat film happens or not, DA told Clothes on Film (via AICN) that we may actually see his vision in the pages of a graphic novel - "It hasn’t really been announced, I don’t know if I should give you the scoop! But we’re getting there. We’re doing a comic book of a script that’s really hard to make and we’re going to do a comic version first and see what happens."

He then goes on to point out how fringe comics like "Kick-Ass" and Scott Pilgrim have become films, and Hollywood  does not as impressed with original scripts as they are with full on graphic novels which give them a better idea of the final outcome.

I'm excited by the notion of DA and Bats coming together in any form
