John Goodman has signed on to co-star in Stephen Daldry's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's book the story follows multi-talented nine-year-old Oskar Schell (12-year-old JEOPARDY! winner Thomas Horn) whose father died in the September 11 attacks. Given a mysterious key by his father before he died, Oskar now wanders New York City in search of the lock it will open.
Goodman plays a doorman in Oskar's apartment building who goes on a trip to exhume the father's coffin.
Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock also star.
Eric Roth ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") adapted the script.
Scott Rudin will produce the pic.
