Luca Guadagnino Finds "The Reliable Wife"

Luca Guadagnino ("I Am Love") will direct the romantic thriller "The Reliable Wife" says Deadline.

Based on author Robert Goolrick's novel the story is set in Wisconsin in 1908, and follows a rich widower who posts an ad for a reliable wife. It is soon answered not by the matronly plain Jane he expected, but rather a gorgeous woman with a secret past who plans to slowly poison him and inherit his estate. He, in turn, has plans for her that are also surprising.

Semi Chellas and Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en) wrote the adapted script.

Michael De Luca and Jami Gertz will produce the film

Sam Taylor-Johnson was previously supposed to direct but she signed on for the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" adaptation instead.
