Mixed Martial Arts fighter Ronda Rousey has signed on for two high-profile films-an adaptation of author Brad Thor's novel "The Athena Project" and the upcoming film adaptation of the HBO series "Entourage" says Variety.
The action in the novel follows a top secret,
all-female Delta Force counter-terrorism team sent in to hunt and kill a
master terrorist after a bombing in Rome. The situation turns out to be
far more complicated.
"Athena Project" is still looking for a writer to pen the adapted script--thus it will be in
development for some time. Rousey agreed to do the
project before a studio became involved.
Rousey will shoot her role in the "Entourage" movie in mid-March as one of the female leads.
Series creator Doug Ellin
wrote the script from which he is due to direct. The film would
continue to follow the Hollywood lives of actor Vincent Chase, his
manager and agent, his under-appreciated TV actor brother and the
childhood pal/driver who form his inner circle. The story starts six
months after the TV series left off.
Deals to return have been reached with the entire cast - Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven
Billy Bob Thornton will play a billionaire cowboy-turned-film financier who
sends his twenty-something son to keep an eye on things on set of the
latest flick he’s financing - Vincent Chase's upcoming big-budget
Dracula movie.
Perrey Reeves is to reprise her role of Melissa Gold, the long-suffering high-society wife of Ari. Constance Zimmer will return as Dana Gordon, an abrasive movie executive who often
butted heads with Ari and, at one time, dated him. Rex Lee will reprise the role of Lloyd, the gay Chinese-American assistant to super agent Ari
Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton would play Chase's girlfriend in the pic.
The movie is currently shooting around Los
Angeles.
Rousey already filmed roles last Fall in both "The Expendables 3" and James Wan's Fast & Furious 7 getting great word of mouth about her
work in both movies.
