THR reports that Edgar Ramirez is in final negotiations to join the biopic "Joy".
The film chronicles the life of Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence)--a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the
country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention.
Ramirez will play Mangano’s husband, Tony here.
American Hustle and The Silver Linings Playbook co-star Robert De Niro is tipped to play the role of Mangano's father.
Annie Mumolo ("Bridesmaids") penned the initial script. Elizabeth Gabler and Rodney Ferrell have since reworked it. Filmmaker David O. Russell rewrote that draft and will direct.
John Davis, John Fox and Ken Mok are producing the film.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in early February.
Fox has pegged a Christmas 2015 release date.
Ramirez stars in Alcon Entertainment's remake of the 1991 action thriller "Point Break" due next Summer.
