Yar On Film

Barry Levinson will direct an adaptation of Anatoly Kuznetsov's WWII classic Babi Yar: A Document in the Form of a Novel. reports Variety.

The tale is the author's gripping account of witnessing mass executions of Jews, gypsies, Poles and prisoners of war during the German occupation of Kiev. The title refers to a ravine where the horor took place.

The $35 million feature, funded by various Russian, Polish and Ukranian investors, will shoot in the Ukraine and Romania

Levinson has tackled drama before but nothing on this scale and grave a subject matter--I'm inrerested to see where this goes.

The pre-production begins in April.
