STYD is reporting that Repo! The Genetic Opera and 3 time Saw helmer Darren Lynn Bousman will remake Charles Kaufman's Mother's Day,

The 1980 Troma Entertainment cult horror classic follows a family led by a smart, manipulative and sadistic mother, as they return to the house where they grew up to terrorize the new owners and their guests.

Co-producer Richard Saperstein:"We're taking the iconic image of a mother, the most comforting and nurturing person in the world, and perverting that into something that is punishing and sadistic,"

Scott Milam (who penned Wichita, another Bousman project) writes the script and a Mother's Day 2010 release is appropriately planned.

Saw reclaimed sadist horror for cinema in the 21st century--Bousman can do this and then some...
