The Net was abuzz this week about who might replace him in the May 4th, 2012 flick
Deadline reported that Mark Ruffalo ("Zodiac," "Collateral") was in"late-stage discussions" to play the character.
Ruffalo's name comes up after Joaquin Phoenix's name first emerged the other day and then names likes Adrien Brody, Nathan Fillion and David Tennant popped up.
Ruffalo's inking of a deal is said to be rushing through for the studio to be able announce the news or even get Ruffalo out on stage at their presentation next Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con
But The Hollywood Reporter added that it's not a done deal yet with only an offer out to the actor and that he hasn't accepted.
Ruffalo's name is the best choice among the field of contenders mentioned here
