RIP Kevin McCarthy (1914-2010)

One of my favorite character actors passed away on Saturday...Kevin McCarthy.

The star died at a hospital in Cape Cod, Massachusetts at the age of 96. The cause of death is not yet known.

McCarthy started his career on Broadway in 1938 before making his big screen debut in "Winged Victory" in 1944. His first starring role came in 1951 with the film adaptation of the Arthur Miller play "Death of a Salesman", which won him a Golden Globe and a scored a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

He went on to achieve cult status as Dr. Miles Bennell in Don Siegel’s original sci-fi classic "Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 195

I was an instant fan and recall his memorable roles on the original "The Twilight Zone", for an episode called Long Live Walter Jameson the first "Mission: Impossible", series "Tales from the Crypt", and "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour". As someone who loves horror--he was a genre staple in Twilight Zone: The Movie, both The Howling, the 1978 version of Piranha for director Joe Dante. The duo also reunited on Innerspace , Matinee and Looney Tunes: Back in Action

He left quite a mark on my childhood that I still have as an adult....He will be missed...

New York Times has more...
