300 Prequel Gets A Director

Smart People director Noam Murro has been hired to direct the prequel 300: Battle of Artemisia says Heat Vision

Murro and Jaume Collet-Serra were the finalists for the gig, which was previously known as Xerxes.

Warner Bros. liked both directors, but decided to go with Murro while letting Collet-Serra take on the Akira remake

300: Battle of Artemisia is based on the Frank Miller graphic novel which is told from the point of view of Xerxes, the tyrannical ruler who was portrayed by Rodrigo Santoro in 300. The tale spans hundreds of years, but mainly focuses on the Battle of Artemisia in 480 BC.

300 director Zack Snyder wrote the screenplay with Kurt Johnstad and was gonna direct until he decided to take on the Superman: Man of Steel reboot instead. No production schedule has been set yet
