-The first three reels of Alfred Hitchcock’s first film, “The White Shadow,” thought to have been lost, have been found--housed at the New Zealand Film Archives.
-WTF Brett Ratner and Don Mischer will produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast says Deadline. This will be Ratner’s first involvement with the Oscar show; Mischer will for the second year in a row serve as a producer and as the telecast director No doubt an attempt to bring in a younger demo Will Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan co-host?!
-Andrew Baldwin's script "The Outsider" has been bought reports Deadline.The story follows an American who spent WWII as a POW in Japan and stays there after the war ends. After working his way through the rituals and hardships, he becomes the rare outsider who gains membership in the Yakuza organized crime syndicate.John Linson came up with the idea and will produce along with his father Art Linson.
-Universal Pictures has quietly dropped "Clue", the third of seven Hasbro board game properties which the studio contracted to make into movies reports Deadline. The studio has also axed plans for films based on "Monopoly" and "Magic: The Gathering". All three have been in development for a few years. The projects are said to still be alive with Hasbro funding the development and production of "Clue" which Gore Verbinski is still attached to direct and produce.
-Despite Disney shutting it down, Robert Zemeckis' Imagemovers shingle looks like it could be showing signs of as he is reportedly in negotiations to sign a two-year first-look deal with Universal says The Hollywood Reporter.
-Appearing at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to promote the "Pearl Jam Twenty" documentary-- filmmaker Cameron Crowe says that the one film of his that might see a sequel--his John Cusack-led 1989 rom-com "Say Anything" says Reuters.
-Filmaker Brothers Kevin Goetz and Michael Goetz will direct the indie drama "Scenic Route" reports Variety.The story follows two old college friends who get stranded in the desert and begin to clash emotionally and physically while coming to grips with the fact they might not be rescued. Kyle Killen wrote the script. Paul Jensen and Brion Hambel will produce.
-Commercials director and VFX guru Michael Gracey has been selected to direct "The Order of the Seven", Disney's China-set live-action revisionist take on "Snow White" says Heat Vision. In this version , the dwarves are replaced by a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption. The pic previously titled "Snow and the Seven", has been in the pipeline for nearly a decade.
-The infamous three-breasted woman (Lycia Naff) from 1990's Total Recall will be part of the remake: As director Len Wiseman tells Collider (via Joblo) that the three-breasted woman will appear in the film and there will be different versions of her scene - one for the PG-13 theatrical cut and one for the unrated disc release
-Robert Ben Garant will write an adaptation of the Japanese graphic novel "Tuxedo Gin" for Disney Pictures says Deadline.
-Actor Johnny Depp will produce a film version of the Image Comics three part mini-series "The Vault" says The Hollywood Reporter.
-Tim Hill ("Hop") is going to direct the remake of 80's classic "Short Circuit" reports Deadline.
-Producers on "Mad Max" 4 have officially cancelled plans to shoot in the Australian outback town of Broken Hill despite years of preparation and money spemt reports ABC News.
-Thor director Kenneth Branagh is interested in directing an adaptation of Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows' best-selling novel "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" reports Variety.
-Marvel's film slate beyond The Avengers is adding one more to the line-up: Twitchfilm says that "Guardians of the Galaxy" has entered "active development" The original story centres on a group of aliens, the last surviving members of their kind, who journey to Earth to protect the planet from an upcoming invasion. The film joins "Iron Man 3" and "Thor 2" which will arrive in 2013, "Doctor Strange" remains in active development, while "Iron Fist" and "Black Panther" are in very early development.
-Mark Steven Johnson is attached to direct the action thriller "Autobahn", (aka "I-95)", says Heat Vision.Greg Russo's script sees a washed-up ex-Formula One driver wake up trapped inside a BMW on the side of Germany’s famed no speed limit roadway the Autobahn. He answers a phone ringing in the glove box, the caller giving him 90 minutes to deliver the bomb-rigged car to a target or his wife and daughter will be killed
-20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have announced the voice cast for "Ice Age: Continental Drift". Franchise regulars Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid), Denis Leary (Diego), Queen Latifah (Ellie), Chris Wedge (Scrat), are back long with Seann William Scott and Josh Peck as possums Crash & Eddie. are joined by Jeremy Renner as ship captain Gutt, Wanda Sykes as Sid's stowaway Granny, Aziz Ansari as the prehistoric rabbit Squint, Keke Palmer as Manny's headstrong daughter Peaches, singer Drake as a handsome young mammoth and love interest for Peaches, Jennifer Lopes as sabre-toothed tigeress Shira. Heather Morris, Joy Behar, Nicki Minaj, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Nick Frost, Kunal Nayyar, Alain Chabat and J.B. Smoove. Steve Martino and Michael Thurmeier direct the 3D project which will hit theatres on July 13th 2012.
