-Jena Malone ("Donnie Darko," "Sucker Punch") has been cast to play Southern gothic writer Carson McCullers in the biopic "Lonely Hunter" says Risky Biz Blog.

-Sony Pictures is reportedly close to acquiring an upcoming biography on the late Steve Jobs for a feature film adaptation says The International Business Times. Jobs passed away late last week after a long battle with cancer


-Music video helmer Chris Milk is set to direct a film that will incorporate Danger Mouse's concept album "Rome" into its narrative reports Variety.

-Kelly Asbury ("Gnomeo and Juliet") will pen a CG-animated adaptation of "Pooch Café" says Heat Vision.

-Summit Entertainment has acquired Kristin Hahn's spec screenplay "In the Flesh" reports Variety.

-Robert Zemeckis will produce and Evan Spiliotopoulos is set to write the supernatural thriller "Charles Fort" says Heat Vision.

-Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired Robert Lynn's action thriller spec script "The Envoy" says Heat Vision.

-Matthew Federman & Stephen Scaia ("Warehouse 13," "Human Target") have been hired to pen a reboot of the "Zorro" franchise reports Deadline

-Kristin Lehman (AMC's "The Killing," "The Sentinel") has signed on to join the cast of the dark comedy "Arthur Newman, Golf Pro" says Variety.

-Legendary screenwriter Robert Towne ("Chinatown," "The Firm") has been hired to pen "The Battle of Britain" says Reuters.

-Warners Buys Spec 'The Envoy' for Joel Silver to Produce

-Fox 2000 has acquired feature film rights to the classic 1960s TV series comedy "Mr. Ed" reports Variety.The live-action family film will feature a real horse with a CG-animated mouth to convey his capability of speech


-Strange Weather Films has acquired the supernatural thriller pitch "Blackpine" reports Deadline

-Owen Wilson talked Derek and Hansel characters for Zoolander sequel to MTV News

-Comics writer Grant Morrison tells The Daily Record that he's busy at work on the scripts of two comic to film adaptations.

-Lionsgate has scored worldwide rights to develop, produce and distribute a film series based on Patrick Ness' award-winning, best-selling young adult novel trilogy "Chaos Walking".

-With the 3D version of "The Lion King" taking in nearly $100 million worldwide so far and is still climbing, Disney is unsurprisingly already making plans for 3D re-releases of more of its classic animated films.
