Moore & Wilde Make Carrie's Life Hell

Julianne Moore has officially been cast to play Carrie's mom opposite Chloe Moretz in the upcoming remake of Carrie says Deadline.

Based on author Stephen King's book--the 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma is a horror classic about a timid and tortured girl (Sissy Spacek) who uses her telekinetic powers to punish her tormentors

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, a playwright who was brought in to rework the troubled Broadway production Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark, is writing the new script which is said to be both more faithful and more realistic than the previous 1976 version. Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") will call action.

Moore and Jodie Foster were both said to be up for the role of Carrie's abusive, fundamentalist Christian mother, Margaret White,  played in the original De Palma film by Oscar nominee Piper Laurie.

Meantime the studio has also cast The Three Musketeers Gabriella Wilde for the role of Carrie school ally Sue Snell.

The remake already has a March 15th, 2013 release date
