Streep Set For Trip "Into The Woods"

Meryl Streep is now confirmed for the film adaptation of  the classic 1980s Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical" Into the Woods" says County Times

The musical tells the story of a baker and his wife’s attempt to have a family, but uses several classic fairy tale characters, such as Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood, to enhance the story.

Musical co-creator James Lapine is now adapting the script and Rob Marshall ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Nine,") will direct and expects the film feature new songs by Sondheim.

Streep will play The Witch.
