Rugan Eyes "Children of the Lamp" Movie

Commercials director Robert Rugan has started talks to direct the long-gestating adaptation of "Children of the Lamp" says Variety.

Based on the popular childrens’ book series by author P.B.Kerr, the story follows a family of genies who disguise themselves as human, but suddenly obtain the ability to grant wishes.

David Guion and Michael Handelman are penning the script from an earlier version by Lee Hall.

Nina Jacobson will produce the film..

Paramount Pictures held on to the film rights after the split from DreamWorks which originally acquired it.
