Steinfeld Will Ride Along "The Homesman"

Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of the upcoming western The Homesman says Deadline.

Set in Nebraska, the story centers on a tough woman (Meryl Streep) tasked with transporting three mentally ill women to an asylum in Iowa. She employs the help of a reluctant claim jumper (Jones) who takes on the responsibility to bring the women to safety when Streep's character commits suicide.


Stanfield will play a young girl named Tabitha Hutchinson

Hilary Swank plays a spinster school teacher. Danish actor David Dencik will play »the sexually brutish husband of one of the women. Miranda Otto will play one of the mentally ill women who left her newborn baby in the cold to die. Three-time Emmy winner James Spader will play a swindler. John Lithgow and Tim Blake Nelson also star.

Jones, who is also directing--co-wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald and Wesley A. Oliver.

Peter Brant, Michael Fitzgerald and Jones will produce the film
