Leighton Meester Leads "Like Sunday, Like Rain"

Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester will star in the indie drama "Like Sunday, Like Rain" says Deadline.

In the story Meester plays a struggling musician who becomes the guardian of a 12-year-old music prodigy (Julian Shatkin) one summer.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and Debra Messing co-star as the boyfriend of Meester’s character and the mother of the boy respectively.

Frank Whaley is directing here using his own script,

Uri Singer, Fabio Golombek Josh Kesselman and Danny Sherman will produce the film.

Production is underway in New York.
