Van Holt Gets "Wild" With Reese

THR reports that Cougar Town actor Brian Van Holt has joined the film adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's memoir "Wild".

The story follows a woman (Reese Witherspoon) who falls into reckless and destructive behavior following her own divorce and the death of her mother. She makes a rash decision - to hike more than 1,000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. In the process she reclaims her life.

Van Holt will play an Oregon park ranger who woos Witherspoon’s character.

The Newsroom's Thomas Sadoski plays the woman’s “ex-husband, who cares for her despite her infidelities.”

Fellow author Nick Hornby is writing the adapted script from which Jean-Marc Vallée ("Dallas Buyers Club") will helm.

Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Bill Pohlad will produce the film.

Production is currently underway.
