Bourne 5: Justin Lin Tapped To Direct

Variety reports that former Fast and the Furious film franchise director Justin Lin is poised to helm the latest as yet Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel.

Anthony Peckham ("Sherlock Holmes," "Invictus") has been hired to write the script for a film that  continue the story of the Aaron Cross character introduced in 2012's "The Bourne Legacy" and played by Jeremy Renner,

There had been some chatter that Universal was trying to woo original star Matt Damon and "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass back to no avail.

'Legacy featured Cross as a member of the black ops program Operation Outcome whose agents are genetically enhanced.  Bourne's actions as chronicled in 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum force the public exposure of Outcome's earlier incarnations - Treadstone and Blackbriar - Cross goes on the run as the agency races to shut Outcome down and kill its agents.

The pic grossed $276 million worldwide.

Ben Smith and Jeffrey M. Weiner. will produce the next film.
