Connie Britton Steps Into "American Ultra"

Vulture says that Nashville and FNL TV series star Connie Britton will replace Sharon Stone in the action comedy "American Ultra" at Lionsgate.

The story follows a stoner named Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend (Kristen Stewart) Phoebe is upended when his past catches up with him, putting him in the line of a sight of a government operation sworn to kill him.

Britton will play Victoria Lasseter, a Government type who spearheaded a secret program to create sleeper agents. Now that someone wants to kill her creation, she will fight to protect them. Stone had replaced the originally cast Uma Thurman last month.

Walton Goggins will play the role of Laugher in the film. Topher Grace will play a power-hungry CIA agent who has recently made seniority and is determined to hunt Mike down. Tony Hale John Leguizamo and  Bill Pullman also star.

Project X director Nima Nourizadeh calls action using a script from Chronicle's Max Landis.

Anthony Bregman, David Alpert and Britton Rizzio are producing the pic.

Production has started.
