Field & Bigelow Plan Competing Bergdahl Films

Deadline says that there are two films now in the works to tell the story of Bowe Bergdahl.

Zero Dark Thirty” team of Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, are doing one that Megan Ellison’s going to produce--while writer-producer Todd Field (“Little Children”), intends to direct the 2nd such film.

26-year-old U.S. Army soldier Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban and spent five years in captivity after allegedly wandering off his base, reportedly upset about the incompetence of others around him and the bureaucracy surrounding the war. President Barack Obama swapped 5 terrorist detainees being held at Gitmo for his return. The Army has started investigating how and why he left his post.

No details about what part of the story either film intends to tell.
