Nicolas Winding Refn Opts Out Of "The Bringing"

Reporter Justin Kroll says that "Drive" and "Only God Forgives" director Nicolas Winding Refn has dropped out of directing the horror tale "The Bringing" one month after he entered talks.

Negotiations between Refn and Sony Pictures have reportedly stalled and Refn is apparently moving away from the project

The story is based on the macabre history of L.A.'s Cecil Hotel and a 2013 incident involving Elisa Lam, a woman who was found dead in a water tank on the hotel's roof. Security footage captures her behaving strangely in a hotel elevator, and the story follows a man investigating her death.

Brandon Murphy and Phillip Murphy wrote the script.

Matt Tolmach and Daniela Cristina Cretu are set to produce.

Refn's next film is the all-female horror-thriller "I Walk with the Dead" which will shoot in Los Angeles.
