THR reports that actress Elizabeth Banks will make her feature directorial debut with the upcoming sequel Pitch Perfect 2.
In the first film, Anna Kendrick played a freshman who reluctantly joins a college acappella group and leads it to the finals. Kay Cannon, who wrote the first film, is writing the sequel.
Banks co-starred in and produced the original, and will also return in the same capacities in the sequel. Scene stealer Rebel Wilson is also likely to return.
The
first Pitch Perfect made $115 million worldwide from a $17 million budget, and was one of the top-performing DVD and VOD titles of 2013.
