Young actor Zachary Gordon has landed the lead role in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" says The Hollywood Reporter.Based on the Jeff Kinney best-selling illustrated novels, the series follows a smart-mouthed middle-school student Greg Heffley (Gordon) during the course of an academic year.
Given the popularity of the books--Gordon who's been in National Treasure: Book Of Secrets and The Brothers Bloom, may be catapulted to super-stardom.
Chloe Moretz is in negotiations for the female lead, an intense student with a wry sense of humor who dresses in all black.
Rachel Harris plays Gordon's mother.
Jackie Filgo, Jeff Filgo , Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs wrote the screenplay.
Thor Freudenthal is calling action..
Filming begins on August 12th in Vancouver.
