Reynolds would take the place of one time attached Tom Cruise playing a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the U.S. president is kidnapped in New York.
Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell wrote the original script with Billy Ray re-writing.
Len Wiseman had been previously attached to call action.
Reynolds hasn’t officially signed on yet — He's still got The Green Lantern for Casino Royale director Martin Campbell and Deadpool on his schedule.
Reynolds may be able to fit it in though with production hoping to kick off by late Summer or early Fall 2010 for a Summer 2011 release.
As one of 24's best directors--(Sorry to see ya go!) he is certainly a great choice to chronicle the action.
