Day Trader

The upcoming rom-com Valentine's Day is being turned into a franchise reports Variety

Army Wives creator Katherine Fugate, who wrote the the script, has been retained to write a follow-up called "New Year's Eve".

The film will follow the same structure - an anthology piece set on a major holiday that follows numerous story lines and features a giant ensemble cast of big names working at discount rates.

The studio wants 'Day' helmer Garry Marshall to return along with some of the stars from that film to star in 'Eve' to maintain continuity.

Getting big name stars at a pay cut is cost effective... The studio must have confidence that the format will work to push ahead with a follow up 4 days before Day is released
