Tudyk Joins Bot Battle

Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Serenity) has joined the cast of Transformers 3 says The Wrap

The plot is being kept secret as is Tudyk's role. He joins franchise newcomers John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Patrick Dempsey, and stars Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel.

Michael Bay plans to shoot the threequel in Africa, Moscow China and Kennedy Space Center.

Tudyk's a good fit with lots of genre geek street cred under him.

Meatime star LaBeouf tells The Associated Press that the upcoming third instalment plans to bring "the heart back to the franchise".

LaBeouf says "When I saw [Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen] I wasn't impressed with what we did... There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone... we got lost. We tried to get bigger... Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie... You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn't matter. Then it's just a bunch of robots fighting each other."

So how will that be rectified?

"There's going to be a lot of death, human death. This time, they're targeting humans... It's going to be the craziest action movie ever made, or we failed."

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1st, 2011.
