Man Of Steel Krypton Parents & Casting Call

Lots of going on with Zack Snyder's big budget reboot "Superman: Man of Steel,"

Russell Crowe is in talks to play Superman's father, Jor-El, in the film says Variety.


Producer Christopher Nolan specifically wanted a "splashy marquee name" for Supes' biological father for some time, now he's scored him with Crowe who was the final choice for a part both Sean Penn and Clive Owen and had also been considered for.

Marlon Brando famously played the role in 1978's genre benchmark Superman: The Movie and was featured in 2006's Superman Returns, thanks to some computer-generated imagery

Story details are being kept under wraps so its unknown to what extent Crowe's role will be in the film.

 A Facebook photo of a Production Weekly update has Connie Nielsen and Harry Lennix joining the film


Crowe's "Gladiator" co-star Nielsen would play Lara, Clark's Kryptonian birth mother. Lennix is up for an unspecified supporting role.

David S. Goyer wrote the screenplay based on a story he concocted with Nolan

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas Deborah Snyder, and Nolan will be producers on the film.

Shooting on the film is presently scheduled to kick off on August 22nd and will run through into April next year.

Like Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.before it...Using the title "Autumn Frost"-- a call is out for men, women, and children in Illinois to participate in the shoot with auditions in Chicago, Naperville and Plano for MOS

On Naperville's DePaul University campus this Saturday. The casting is for all types and ages when filming kicks off in the area in August through September.
