Here's more on how the Batcave in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises will differ from its “Batman Begins" counterpart
As I previously told you, the exterior entrance will consist of footage shot during a two day lensing at a waterfall in Brecon Beacons, Wales. The interior is being built on Stage 30 on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios in California.
Dark Knight Rises Rumors says that extensions to that set will be created using footage shot at the massive Salina Turda Salt Mine in Transylvania, Romania which will double for the Batcave
Back in January The Romania Business Insider (via Superhero Hype) reported that Nolan unofficially visited the mines and producers had met with Bucharest city officials to discuss filming there
As a rule Nolan tends to use real location photography rather than CGI....Therefore seemingly reference shots from the locale were taken to composite with the sound stage set.
Photos of the mine interior indicate that if true TDKR's Batcave will be one hell of an awesome set...
Christian Bale Tom Hardy Anne Hathaway Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Pence, Alon Aboutboul and Nestor Carbonell star along with return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine
Matthew ModineTom Conti 11-year-old actress Joey King Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff Christopher Judge and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles
Nolan calls action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer
The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
