Wes Bentley, Luke Evans, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ben Affleck are said to have been offered the chance to screen test for Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Superman/Batman team-up Man of Steel Sequel according to an unnamed source for Comic Book News
MOS 2 will see the return of Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, while Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are set to reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Perry White and Martha Kent. There is also chatter about who is gonna play Lex Luthor in the film
"Man Of Steel" director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer will also be back--as will Christopher Nolan to executive produce the film,
Sources say the new movie is going for the tone of the relationship and fight seen in Frank Miller’s 1980s ground-breaking mini-series The Dark Knight Returns.
The list of potentials to play Bats grows as the weeks pass--former Pirates of the Caribbean film series star Orlando Bloom and even Christian Bale in the mix--despite saying more than once that the recent Batman trilogy was it for him.
For the sake of discussion--let's assume the latest report is true....
Bentley kinda makes sense since he is currently working for Nolan on "Interstellar" at the moment. Jake circles a lot of comic book pic but never lands. It would be ironic for Evans to get the role since he's playing Vlad the Impaler in the "Dracula" reboot at Universal Pictures at the very moment,
I find it hard to believe Ben would commit to a role of this kind. He already has Daredevil (I liked Director's Cut--it's really good!) under his belt with mixed results. He played well in Hollywoodland as 50'S TV Superman star George Reeves. Affleck clearly prefers smaller films now both as actor and or director.
Casting is likely to solidify in the coming weeks as Warner Bros wants to shoot the movie in early 2014 for a 2015 release.
