X-Men DOFP: Evan Peters Talks Quicksilver

IGN caught up with actor and American Horror Story favorite Evan Peters to discuss his role as the speedy Quicksilver in director Bryan Singer's upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past":

"They used motion capture," Peters says of the speed effect. "I don’t know what I can say about it and not get in trouble, I really don’t. But they shot a lot of slow motion. They brought in an amazing camera, the Phantom -- it’s, like, 3600 frames per second. They brought in these huge, bright lights and did some amazing, amazing stuff with it. I’m excited to see it all cut together and check all that out. It’s going to be really cool."

Peters describes his incarnation of the character as a "twitchy" teenager in Days of Future Past, which doesn't quite jive with how the character is portrayed in the comics. He also says that he will see action in the 1970's tine frame of the film.

"Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies -- he can do pretty much whatever he wants with them," the actor says of the changes, while also noting that the possibility of comics fans reacting negatively to any alterations was definitely discussed while making the film. "There’s always that risk, but I think at the end of the day, you want to try to make the best movie you can. You kinda gotta go with your gut on that."

Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains the frontrunner to play Quicksilver in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" for writer/director Joss Whedon. Peters says that they are two totally different characters:

"Well, my character can’t be in The Avengers," he says. "It’s going to be a different one. It won’t be me, it’ll be someone else. But yeah, I didn’t focus too much on it. I mean, what an amazing opportunity to be a part of X-Men. I’m gonna try to do the best job that I can and not let anyone down. That was pretty much where I was at with it. I just thought it was really cool to be a part of all the special effects stuff and the movies that I grew up loving. It’s awesome."

The latest sequel is based on a -2 issue story arc in the 'X-Men' comics published in 1981. Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes) is on board to pen the screenplay which will include New Mutants. Magneto and his relationship with Charles X. Xavier will be front and center as well.
