Ghostbusters III may morph into a full on reboot as Ivan Reitman has dropped out of directing the film according to Heat Vision.
Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver were all due to reprise their roles in the sequel with Harold Ramis Ramis passed passed away last month
Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman met with Sony Pictures into discuss how the
film will move forward. We were told that while “There will be some repercussions” due
to Ramis’ passing, “it won’t affect the script.”
The script was written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky wrote
the "excellent" with input from Dan Aykroyd, The plot is said to
revolve around Dana and Peter's lovechild, Oscar, and his new found job
as a "Ghostbuster". The original actors were said to only appear in cameos in later drafts.
Reitman will remain on the film as a producer.
Production aims to begin in early 2015.
